The fact that it is making Abiy and the other thieves restless is also a victory. Before Fano started the armed struggle, the thieves in power did whatever they wanted with impunity. Even though Fano is not in power, there is a power balance now. Winning militarily is not the only victory.
Colonialism can create division even between people who have the same ethnicity, let alone different. One example of this is the relationship between the Tigrians of Eritrea and the Tigrians of Tigray. Both people share the same language, culture, and religion, yet they hate each other immensely. Eritreans esp consider Tigrians as inferior and don't want to associate with them, even though they belong to the same ethnic group. Nothing angers Eritrean Tigrians more than to be told they are ethnically identical to Tigrians in Tigry. All this hatred is the result of the indoctrination they got from the colonists who came from far away and told them they were superior. The colonists did this in order to create division between families and draw borders to facilitate their occupation.
You can argue about the timing, but as a leader, Abiy has an obligation to do that. If Ethiopia's neighbors want peace, they must do the right thing and hand over the ports they took from Ethiopia.
The Colonists created Eritrea, Dijoubti, and Somalia in order to monitor Ethiopia's trading activities and dominate it by distancing it from its coastline and keeping it under siege. The policy of the governments of these newly-created countries is based on that. That is why they have been denying Ethiopia free sea access and hindering its trade with the international community, and that is why they are not friendly countries to Ethiopia.
And if Eritrea wants a good relationship, it must return the Assab Port to Ethiopia. The enemies that created Eritrea wanted to distance Ethiopia from accessing its own sea coast and keep it under siege. That is why the border of Eritrea is the way it is. But this situation must not continue. But for now, the priority of the people should be the establishment of a democratic government in the country.
The Former Ginbot 7 members and ESAT journalists have a soft heart for the Shabia government, and do their best not to criticize it. They even argue for it against the interests of their own country, by saying the Assab port belongs to Eritrea and Ethiopia does not need it. That is a typical banda behavior. They do that just because they wrongly believe Issays did them a favor during the struggle years against the Weyene government by providing them with military bases. But what they have failed to realize is that it was Issays and Shabia that armed Weyene and OLF in the first place, to create division and weaken Ethiopia.
I grew up listening to many of his Christian spiritual songs, and I have great respect for him, but I strongly disagree with many of his views on the current Ethiopian political issues he raises in his video. We should stop spreading ideas that increase ethnic divisions and give PM Abiy the benefit of the doubt. Without his leadership, the crisis in Ethiopia could have been even worse.
Ethiopia could lose up to 26 billion birr annually by putting into operation the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), according to a document from the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration. This includes Sur tax, withholding, excise, and VAT tax revenues generated from imports from African countries, which will be tariff free under the AfCFTA.

It is actually embarrassing, to begin with, that the leader of a big country like Ethiopia uses Facebook, instead of an official government website, to get his messages across. The PM should close down his Facebook account and not humiliate himself further by posting there. The PM's post should have been seen in the context of the war going on in the Northern part of Ethiopia, but Facebook deleted it because it wanted to make a statement that it is a force for good and improve its own image.

Ethiopia government has been trying to unite East African countries and stabilise the region so that the people of the region will focus on developments. But Egypt and Sudan, with the help of the US, have started diplomatic campaigns, jumping from countries to countries to prevent that in order to isolate and weaken Ethiopia and reverse its diplomatic gains.
But since their diplomatic efforts are based on conspiracies against Ethiopia, and are not done for the mutual benefits of the people, they will not succeed. Ethiopia's neighbours gain more by cooperating with Ethiopia than being servants for countries that do not have their best interest.
Pressure is mounting on Ethiopia to declare a ceasefire in the northern province of Tigray to allow humanitarian organizations to reach millions of people who face famine.
The war in Tigray has disrupted harvests and led to huge problems for the delivery of aid to communities, particularly in rural areas. More than 2 million people are thought to have been displaced by the conflict.

By the way, the West says it cares for Ethiopians more than the Ethiopian government. It did not send help on time when the government had asked them. The West uses the humanitarian crises as a pretext to interfere. It does not care for human rights.
The Western media have been campaigning to tarnish the image of Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy and his government, and the US has been threatening with sanctions, because of human rights issues. But the real motive of the negative media campaigns and sanctions threats is that PM Abiy has refused to be a puppet, and he has been carrying out independent policies.
The US does not care for human rights; many of its allies are countries ruled by dictators who abuse human rights. The issue of human rights is just a pretense the US uses to interfere with the internal affairs of a country.

And beyond instilling immense jubilation and pride, it impels us to ponder on, and mull over several indelible truths, President Isaias added.Is being 'independent' from their own country Ethiopia, something to celebrate? Independence or not Eritreans identity will not change; they will always be Tigrians just like the Tigrians in Ethiopia, and the Afar people will always be Ethiopians. So, what are they celebrating? Democracy?
It is amazing how politicians use nationalism to trick people into believing they have achieved something. But in reality, the independence of Eritrea has no benefit for Eritreans, except, of course, for those in power.
